God, Humanity And Human Dignity
My worldview of the value placed on a human person is that they ought be treated with equal value in relation to any other human, and they have substantial worth as they are a creation of God, created in his image. Human beings should be treated with respect regardless of any physical characteristic they may exhibit.
God, Humanity And Human Dignity Regarding controversial bioethical issues such as stem cell research, and abortion, to take or destroy the life of another human being is not in God’s plan and is not what we humans were created to do. I do agree with advancements in medicine, although not at the sake of taking another’s life. I also understand that people have challenges and hardships that create difficult decisions and, in my lifetime, experienced the death of my friend’s sister due to a complicated pregnancy where the mother died and the baby survived. Regarding the topic of designer babies, my belief is that this possibility should not be pushed forward as an option, this too would not be in alignment with God’s plan for us as humans; interfering with nature’s way will only create problems. As a nurse, I plan to continue to support my patients and their families, showing respect, and always the highest regard to all human life, no matter how young or old, or how rich or poor.
