Comparative Analysis Using Emiliano Zapata, “Plan of Ayala” and Vladimir Lenin,
“The Tasks of the Proletariat in the Present Revolution,” make a chart
of the similarities and differences in the goals of the two revolutions.
• Topics might include how the two revolutionaries viewed or wrote about the role of
the people who worked the land in the revolution, the political goals of each
revolutionary, what role each revolutionary saw for himself, etc.
• Be as specific as you can (if possible, cite page number)
• You can use brief quotations if they help to make your point
• Remember, your comparisons must compare the exact same topic, theme, or subject.
To help you make sure that you are comparing identical things, try to write the
comparison sentences with the same structure.
• Comparisons should NOT be whole paragraphs; 1-2 sentences should be enough for
each half of the comparison. The assignment can be up to 2 pages long (double-spaced,
12pt. font).
• Avoid silly or insignificant comparisons. You will get graded on quality as well as
quantity.
• Your comparisons should be in a list or chart form:
