Introduction

Nutrition

Topic 1 description and why it is important

My topic 1 choice is nutrition. Nutrition focuses on teaching people the best amounts of healthy foods to be taken. It advises on the consumption of foods rich in nutrients across all the food groups. This may include vegetables, milk products, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats. This is important because it will help reduce the many risks of chronic diseases and improve people’s health over time (Pronk et al., 2021).

Will nutrition problems lead to secondary conditions or complications?

This problem is most likely to cause secondary complications such as cancer, diabetes, obesity, and many others (Johnson et al., 2020). This is caused by poor ways of eating unhealthy foods which trigger the body to respond negatively to the food.

Criteria used to understand the risk of developing such complications

A detailed nutrition assessment is normally done in hospitals which involve objective and subjective parameters. This involves the medical history, and past intake of diet, physical examination, quality of life, medications, mental assessment, and laboratory values. These methods can be used to tell the risk of nutrition problems.

Conclusion

Healthy people, 2030 initiative can stimulate the improvement of health among most people in the next years. This plays a great role in ensuring that the workload at healthcare facilities is reduced and most funds go to the development of the nation instead of the medical area. This is because a healthy nation is a wealthy nation, and life matters.
